Looking after your Beauty Works hair extensions

Follow this guide to maintain the longevity of your hair between appointments

SLEEPING

• Never go to sleep with wet hair; always make sure your extensions are completely dry to avoid tangling and damage to the extensions.
• When sleeping, braid your hair extensions to avoid tangling which will stop the cuticles from rubbing together.

LIFESTYLE

• SWIMMING – Strictly avoid salt water – it can discolour hair and leave your hair dry.
• CHLORINE CONTENT IN WATER WILL DAMAGE HAIR EXTENSIONS, causing matting and discolouration; therefore, it is advisable to avoid underwater swimming.
• SUNBATHING – UV rays will discolour hair extensions; therefore, we advise wearing a hat in the sun and avoiding strong UV rays. Always us a UV spray to shield hair from the sun. This includes using sunbeds.
• HOTTER CLIMATES – During the summer, our hair is exposed more than usual to UV light, salt and chlorinated water and environmental aggressors that can hair and extensions.
• SUNCREAM – can contain chemicals that can turn hair extension pink or orange in tone, we recommend keeping hair extensions, specifically blonde or balayage extensions clipped back whilst applying and wearing suncream to avoid discoloration. We also advise doing the same when spraying perfume and body spray.

LIFESPAN

• The lifespan of your extensions will depend on the aftercare. We do not guarantee a definitive lifespan on any types of hair extensions due to them being a natural consumable product.
• Styling tongs, hair irons and heated rollers can be used on your extension with a temperature of up to 180c. however it is advisable not to use heat excessively as this can cause the hair to dry out considerably, causingbreakage and snapping. Always consider the health of your extensions blow-dry the Beauty Works Heat Protection Spray into wet hair.
• We do not recommend colouring your extensions. Any colouring is done entirely at the customers own risk and will void the guarantee.
• Light blonde coloured extensions will naturally have a shorter lifespan due to the bleaching process. Lighter shades will also require more care and less heat application to increase the lifespan of the hair.
• We recommend washing extensions between 2/3 times a week.

WASHING HAIR EXTENSIONS

Shampoo and condition your hair extensions with Beauty Works Sulphate Free Pearl Nourishing Argan Oil Shampoo and Conditioner, specifically designed for tape in and pre-bonded hair extension methods.

Let the conditioner sit and soak into your extensions before rinsing. When conditioning, avoid the root area and thoroughly rinse to avoid build up. Beauty Works Pearl Nourishing Argan Oil Mask is formulated to nourish and revitalise dry hair. To restore shine and softness, gently comb through wet hair focusing on the mid-lengths and ends. Apply as often as needed.

Lock in moisture and ensure your hair extensions are truly nourished with the Beauty Works Argan Oil Serum. Apply a small amount to wet and dry hair.

Keep hair protected from heated appliances by using the Beauty Works Heat Protection Spray. Use on either wet or dry hair. For all other styling products see the Beauty Works website.

BRUSHING

The correct brush will not only keep your extensions from unnecessary breakage and needing replacement more frequently, but it will also help keep your natural hair in optimum condition too. Whether you have a weave, micro bonds, clip ins or taped extensions, your natural hair is more prone to damage because they all apply pressure at the root. Pulling at the root of your extensions with the incorrect brush can tug your extensions out, resulting in hair loss, thinning and damage at the root. Beauty Works boar bristle brushes are specifically designed for hair extensions and over strands smoothy.
